SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT THIS FAMILY NAME:
In 1728 Heinrich Zimmerman and his sons were naturalized in the American Colonies and anglicized their surname (to make their name English in form and pronunciation). They changed their Zimmerman name for the name Carpenter. This was due to the Immigration Records. Once the Switzerland Goverment found out where they lived it was fearful that that they could be brought back to serve in the Military.
