Note 1664:
(Connecticut Puritan Settlers, 1633-1845) "In 1664 - he had a case in court concerning the ownership of a steer. The jury on trial disagreed. The court and jury then unitedly attempted to agree upon a verdict, but failing in so doing, the court advised the parties, to either divide the steer between them, or carry the cause to the General Court for trial.
Note 1662:
The price paid for the land, over one hundred thousand acres, was thirty red coats. This purchase was made in 1662, the Indians reserving the right to hunt and fish on the land, so long as they did not disturb the settlers.
