1850 Census: In this census record taken September 18th John W. (recorded as Warren) 39 yrs and Eunice G. 28 yrs have children John W. Jr. 9 yrs, Hannah F. 5 yrs, and Daniel A. 2 yrs living at home. John lists his Value of Personal Estate to be $200. John Jr. and Hannah are recorded as attending school within the year. Eunice's brother Daniel Rogers 26 yrs and Cordelia (wife) 26 yrs with their young family, including Eunice's younger sister Rachel M. age 19 yrs have moved to Wisconsin and lived on the very next farm. Daniel is listed as a Cooper. Census recorded by (name was illegible). A little info about Spring Grove, it is in the town (township to the rest of the world) of Green Lake right on the southern edge of Green Lake itself. The Chase's could have either gone around the lake to the city of Green Lake, south to Markesan, or over the county line to Ripon in Fond du Lac county to shop, attend church, etc. Additionally Green Lake County was part of Marquette County until 1858.
1860 Census: In this census taken July 12th has John W. 48 yrs (recorded as Warren again) and Eunice 40 yrs (should be 39yrs) with children John Jr. 19 yrs, Hannah 15 yrs, Daniel 13 yrs, Rachel 10 yrs, Ann 7 yrs, and Charles 1 year old at home. John lists his Value of Real Estate to be $800, and Personal Estate $250. John, Hannah, Daniel, Rachel, and Ann are all listed as attending school within the year. Census taken by R.C. Gates.
1870 Census: In this census record taken August 3rd John W. 60 yrs and Eunice G. 49 yrs have children John W. Jr. 28 yrs, Daniel A. 22 yrs, Rachel M. 19 yrs, Mary A. 16 yrs, Charles D. 11 yrs, and Lewis E. 8 yrs living at home. John lists his Value of Personal Estate is $500. 1880 Census: In this census record taken June 16th John 69 yrs and Eunice 58 yrs have children Charles 21 yrs, and Lewis E. (Elmer) 18 yrs living at home. Charles is recorded as working the farm with his father. Census taken by W. Whightman Note: There were many areas of this census left blank which should have been recorded. His son Daniel and wife Alida were living and farming in the same area.
